Greensboro College Men’s Golf in Sixth After Day One at NCAA Championships

(HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL) — The defending National Champion Pride men’s golf team is in sixth place after the first day of the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship. Greensboro shot a +8, 296 on the par-72, 6,895 yard Los Colinas Course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. Oglethorpe leads the 41 team field with a -3, 285.

Joshua Hudgins and Nick Peoples each posted a team best +1, 73. Hudgins finished the day with five total birdies while Peoples recorded one birdie. The two are currently tied for 19th in the individual standings.

Ben Nihart and Kirk Mitchell followed behind with a +3, 75. Nihart had four birdies for the round while Mitchell tallied three.

USA South Conference individual champion, Scott Novicki, rounded out the top five with a +6, 78. Novicki notched one birdie on the day.

The Pride will return to the course on Wednesday for day two of the four day championship. The top 16 teams following Wednesday’s round will make the cut and advance to the final two days of the tournament. The current cutline stands at +18.

Greensboro will tee off on Wednesday on the par-72, 6,926 yard El Campeon Course. The first Pride tee time is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. One Greensboro golfer will tee off every ten minutes, with the last of the five tee times scheduled for 10:20 a.m.
