DURHAM — Burlington-Graham Post 63 picked up a pair of victories against Durham Post 7 by scores of 5-1 and 15-8 in its season-opening doubleheader Saturday.
In Game 1, Post 63 jumped out early with a four-run first inning and used five pitchers who held Post 7 to one run on five hits.
Adam Smith had two hits and Evan Friddle drove in a pair of runs for Burlington-Graham.
In Game 2, Post 63 racked up 14 hits, including seven extra-base hits. Those were highlighted by Elliott Fowler’s solo home run and Eddie Sappelt’s two-run triple.
Sappelt finished with three hits and four RBI to pace Burlington-Graham.
Adam Gunn, Scott Ellington and Dominique Snipes had two hits apiece for Post 63. Ellington had two doubles and two RBI.
Burlington-Graham manager Johnny Slaughter again used five pitchers in the game for a total of 10 different Post 63 pitchers in the doubleheader.
