Southeast Guilford Track Signings and Hezekiah Ward Jersey Retirement

Trey Jones of the Southeast Guilford Men’s Track Team signs his national letter of intent with UNC-Wilmington and Gabrielle Pierce of the Southeast Guilford Women’s Track Team signs her national letter of intent with Winston-Salem State at the Southeast Guilford Track Banquet on Tuesday night.

Jones & Pierce National Signing

A four year senior, Jones was one of the state’s best long jumpers. He also was a ranked triple jumper and ran the 55 Meter Dash Indoors and the 4 x 200 and 4 x 100 Relay in Outdoor Track. He was a key member of the 4A Indoor State Co-Championship Team this winter scoring in the Long Jump and Triple Jump. He was also a member of three consecutive Metro Conference Men’s Outdoor Championship Teams. He was also All-Conference the last two years and state qualifer the last two years in Outdoor Track. He qualified for 4 events at the 2012 Outdoor State Meet and finished 4th in the Long Jump.

Pierce, also a four year senior, qualified for three consecutive Indoor State Championships in the 55 Meter Hurdles and was All Metro Conference in Outdoor Track in 2012 and a regional qualifier. Pierce was a key member of four consecutive conference championship teams for the Southeast Women’s program.

Hezekiah Ward

Hezekiah Ward, the NCHSAA 4A State Indoor State Meet 55 Meter Hurdle champion who helped lead the Southeast Guilford Men’s Indoor Track Team to the 2011-12 4A Men’s Indoor State Co-Championship has his jersey retired on Tuesday night. Ward signed earlier this winter with UNC-Wilmington.

The 2011-12 Indoor Track Team also received their championship rings at the banquet.
