Looking for a breakout

In April or early May. a four-game losing streak would barely raise an eyebrow.

But in June, with the first half of the SAL season winding down, it’s magnified.

“It’s not very good timing, is it?” Hoppers manager David Berg mused Friday night after his club dropped its fourth straight, 6-2 to Lexington in NewBridge Bank Park.

The Hoppers’ losing streak coincides with Hagerstown’s winning streak, which makes the timing worse. The Suns beat Kannapolis 6-4 Friday for their sixth straight win. That cut the Hoppers’ lead in the Northern Division to 2 1/2 games with nine to play.
