Metro-liner upheaval of basketball coaches with Stone and Jones now the ‘Dean of Coaches’ in the Metro 4-A

Major change coming in boys basketball next season in the Metro 4-A with Melvin Stone at Southeast Guilford and Brian Jones at Ben L. Smith, now the ‘Dean of Coaches’ in the league…..

Here’s how it begins to break down:
Robert Kent at Page gone and new boys coach James Abell(formerly at High Point Andrews and at Dudley…..

David Price at Dudley gone and new coach is Brian Seagraves(formerly at High Point Andrews and at Dudley….

Darren Corbett at Grimsley gone and new head coach is (?)….

Melvin Stone still in at Southeast Guilford and has been there right at 5 years….

Brian Jones still in at Ben L. Smith and has been there right at 4 years….

Jerrod Harris still in at Western Guilford and has been there for 1 year….

*****Southern Alamance coach not available according to MaxPreps and Coach Stone(SEG) was formerly at Southern Alamance, Coach Jones at Smith was formerly at Apex and Coach Harris at Western Guilford was formerly at Smith and at George Washington High School, in Danville, Virginia….*****

  1. Debbie Jones is the head women’s basketball coach at PAGE….Danielle Duncan is the new assistant coach at PAGE and Kris Britton was with PAGE as an assistant last year, but she has moved on…..More assistants to be named for the women and same story for the men, they will be naming future assistant coaches for Coach James Abell’s staff….

Josh Chavis, who played point guard at Dudley and later on in college at USC-Upstate, will be the new men’s assistant coach to Brandon Clifford at High Point Christian Academy….

  2. Hard to call Brian Jones the “Dean of Coaches” in the Metro 4-A when he quit Monday. News & Record posted a story early this afternoon.

  3. I just got the resignation post up on the site and I can’t get the changes printied fast enough…..He just announced it today…..

Was at Northern Guilford today with injured Smith football coach Rodney Brewington….Ruptured Achilles Tendon and on the mend for 8 weeks….

I am on it all and the pressure of being called the ‘Dean of Coaches’ may have effected his decision….We control the flow here in the Metro…
