NeSmith rallies for second-round lead at FJ Invitational
Yeung falls to second place with Hak and Pisciotta

GREENSBORO, N.C. Matthew NeSmith of North Augusta, S.C., jumped to the head
of the 84-player field at FJ Invitational after shooting 3-under-par 67 to bring his
tournament total to 137 through Wednesday’s second round. Leaders from the first
round stayed near the top of the leaderboard, as Motin Yeung, Shun Yat Hak and
Michael Pisciotta are tied for second at an even-par 140.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the FJ Invitational is a 72-hole
stroke play competition played on the par-70, 6,909-yard Cardinal Golf & Country
Club. The 84-player field features boys from 21 states and 9 foreign countries. For
the fifth consecutive year, the winner of the FJ Invitational will receive a
sponsor’s exemption into the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship in August.

NeSmith started the tournament with an even par-70 and then rose to the challenge in
the second round with an eagle at No. 4 and a chip-in birdie at No. 9. He finished
with four birdies and an eagle to score a 3-under-par 67.

“I was just trying to plot my way around, maybe make a few birdies,”
said NeSmith, who was signed with the University of South Carolina. “I tried
to put myself in the middle of the fairway and make good putts.”

NeSmith, who stands No. 2 in the Polo Golf Rankings, attributed his iron game and
putting to his low score.

“I chipped in from 40 yards on No. 4 to make eagle and that got me off
rolling,” NeSmith said.

Shun Yat Hak of Lake Mary, Fla., Motin Yeung of Orlando, Fla., and Michael Pisciotta
of Alpharetta, Ga., are in second at even-par 140. Henry Davis of Queretaro, Mexico,
Jordan Niebrugge of Mequon, Wis., and Tae Wan Lee of Orlando, Fla., are in fifth at
1-over-par 141.

Third-round tee times will run from 7- 11:30 a.m. off the No. 1 tee at Cardinal Golf
& Country Club. For more information about the FJ Invitational, please contact
