Ryan Billings named High Point’s Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Ryan Billings has joined High Point University as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Athletic Director Craig Keilitz announced on Friday. Billings previously worked at Campbell, the University of North Carolina and Delaware and worked with a wide variety of sports.

“We’re very excited to welcome Ryan Billings to our staff and get him working with our student-athletes immediately,” said Keilitz. “Our student-athletes have embraced the strength & conditioning program and it has been a cornerstone for our success. We’re eager for him to instill his program and help us continue building championship-level teams.”

Billings was Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning at Campbell University in 2011-12, where he was directly responsible for training the women’s basketball, men’s soccer, softball and track & field teams and assisted with training for football and baseball. Billings worked directly with Campbell’s coaching staffs, athletic trainers and student-athletes to develop individualized programs that included testing protocols and nutritional information in addition to strength & conditioning. He also managed interns and assisted coaches in the recruiting process.

At Campbell last season, the women’s basketball team posted a five-win improvement while the men’s soccer team won three more games than the previous year.

Prior to Campbell, Billings worked for one semester in the strength & conditioning department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He assisted with the Tar Heels’ men’s lacrosse and women’s basketball teams.

Billings was Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Delaware from 2007-11, where he was responsible for training programs for men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, tennis, swimming & diving, throwing and volleyball. He also assisted with design and implementation of programs for football and women’s basketball.

In addition to his strength & conditioning duties at Delaware, Billings was a guest lecturer in Health and Exercise Science courses and helped organize the inaugural First State Sports Medicine and Strength Symposium.

While at Delaware, Billings helped his teams reach the NCAA postseason 10 times, including assisting with a pair of national runner-up finishes with the Blue Hens’ football team. In addition to an NCAA appearance, he was also a part of two Women’s NIT appearances with the Delaware women’s basketball team.

Billings started his career serving as an assistant football coach at Milford High School while also coordinating strength and conditioning programs for the football team from 2005-07.

Billings is a 2006 graduate of Delaware, where he earned a degree in health studies with a minor in strength & conditioning. He also worked as an intern with the University of Delaware Strength and Conditioning department.

Billings is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a United States Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (USAW).
