“Oh what a difference one day can make”:Hoppers burn Suns 4-0 at NewBridge Bank Park(with Box Score)

Wednesday night at NBBP:Greensboro Grasshoppers 4, Hagerstown Suns 0…WP:Scott Lyman(3-6)/LP:Taylor Jordan(3-3)….Hoppers-4-8-2(32-32)…Suns-0-4-1(38-25)HR:(GSO) Autin Barnes(12)…

The Hagerstown Suns defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 8-0 at NewBridge Bank Park on Tuesday night and the Hoppers looked like anything but a playoff baseball team…….The Hoppers were playing like the playoffs were a million miles away and they were not a team that looked like they belonged in the South Atlantic League’s post-season….

“Oh what a difference one day can make”…..

The Hoppers got it going and they never lost the pace on Wednesday night, as the home team bounced back to best Hagerstown 4-0….Greensboro got seven innings from starting pitcher Scott Lyman and he was boosted by by Barnes, as in Austin Barnes, who hit his 12th home run of the season in the first inning to push the winning button and the Grasshoppers kept their finger on the that ‘winning button’ all night long….

Aaron Senne added a Triple to the Hoppers’ cause and Senne and Barnes both ended up going 2-4 at the plate, on the night….Barnes set the pace with 2 RBI and back to Lyman, he went 7 innings. and he gave up no runs on just three hits, with three walks and no strikeouts….Lyman got the Hagerstown Suns on just three pitches in the top of inning number six and he did almost the same thing in the top of the seventh, after getting into a bit of a jam with two Suns reaching base in the 5th….

Lyman goes seven and Junior Valentine started the game as the base umpire, but he finished the game behind the plate, after Drew Maher, the SAL ump who started the game behind the dish, got hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third and had to leave the contest for the night….Junior Valentine became a rare ‘one man umpiring crew’……

A bit of a rare night, as the Greensboro Grasshoppers come roaring back from the depths of defeat on Tuesday, to be in total control and win in a shutout on Wednesday….
