(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Greensboro College men’s soccer team came up short against Roanoke on Saturday night in the Shellenberger Memorial Classic at Lynchburg, VA. Roanoke’s AJ Tierce netted the only goal of the night in the 26th minute in what proved to be a competitive match-up.
The Pride were able to fire off seven shots, compared to 11 for the Maroons. Despite the ability to create offense, Greensboro was only able to place one shot on goal. The lone shot on goal was attempted by Drew Clukey.
Earl Floyd was the only Greensboro player to take two total shots as five different players found the shot column. Manbi Nyepon suffered the defeat in goal despite making three saves.
The Pride are now 1-2 on the young season. Greensboro will look to get back to .500 on Sunday when it takes on host Lynchburg. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
