Football (2-3, 0-2 SoCon)
Elon at Appalachian State, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 3:30 p.m., Boone, N.C.

• Senior wide receiver Aaron Mellette caught 13 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns against Wofford. He now sits in a tie for second in SoCon history with 17 career 100-yard games and is third in the league record book with 33 receiving touchdowns.
• Senior kicker Adam Shreiner was 3-for-3 in field goals on Saturday and has been successful on his last seven attempts this year.
• The Phoenix will visit Boone, N.C., for a showdown with rival Appalachian State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Men’s Soccer (6-2-1, 1-0-0 SoCon)
Elon at West Virginia, Tuesday, Oct.2, at 7 p.m., Morgantown, W.V.
Elon vs. Furman, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m., Rudd Field

• The Phoenix won its Southern Conference opener at Davidson this past Friday, 2-0, giving Elon its second shutout of the season.
• Chris Thomas tied a couple of all-time program records in that match on Friday. Thomas scored his 42nd and 43rd career goals to tie Mike Wessels (1985-89) for the most in men’s soccer history. It was also the senior forward’s 13th goal of the season, tying the mark for scores in a single-season.
• Thomas earned national recognition this past week after being named the College Soccer News (CSN) and Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week. The Snellville, Ga., native was also won his second SoCon weekly honor of the season last Tuesday.
• The program will be celebrating its 40th year anniversary on Saturday in the match versus Furman.

Volleyball (8-11, 1-3 SoCon)
Elon vs. Chattanooga, Friday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m., Alumni Gym
Elon vs. Samford, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m., Alumni Gym

• Elon picked up its first win in Southern Conference play with a sweep at Western Carolina last Friday.
• The maroon and gold saw strong defensive efforts over the weekend from senior Ali Deatsch and freshman Catherine Head. Deatsch recorded 52 digs to average 7.43 digs per set, while Head finished with 11 blocks to average 1.83 blocks per set.
• The Phoenix welcomes Chattanooga and Samford for a pair of matches this weekend. Samford is the reigning SoCon North Division and Tournament champions.

Women’s Golf
Elon at UNCG Starmount Forest Tournament, Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 1-2, Greensboro, N.C.

• Elon is one of 16 teams participating in this week’s UNCG Starmount Forest Tournament. The field also includes SoCon rivals UNCG and Western Carolina.
• Participants will play 54 holes in this event, including 36 on Monday.
• The Phoenix last played in the Great Smokies Intercollegiate. The maroon and gold placed fourth out of 15 teams in the rain-shortened event.

Women’s Soccer (3-6-4, 1-1-2 SoCon)
Elon at Wofford, Friday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m., Spartanburg, S.C.
Elon at Furman, Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., Greenville, S.C.

• The Phoenix went unbeaten in league action this past weekend following a 1-1 draw against The Citadel and a 2-0 victory over College of Charleston.
• Taylor Glenn scored her first collegiate goal for the maroon and gold versus the Cougars, while Chelsey Stark picked up a goal and an assist in the win over CofC.
• Phoenix goalie Kate Murphy recorded her third shutout of the season against CofC after totaling six saves in 90 minutes of action between the posts.

Women’s Tennis
Elon at Wake Forest Fall Invitational, Friday-Sunday, Oct. 5-7, Winston-Salem, N.C.

• Elon returns to action this weekend for the Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
• The Phoenix last competed at home with the Elon Fall Invitational, with the team reaching the finals in nearly every singles and doubles match.
• Jordan Johnston and Frida Jansaker earned a prequalifying doubles selection at the 2012 All-American Championships at UCLA last weekend, earning a No. 4 seed in their bracket. The duo dropped a hard-fought doubles match to Santa Clara, 8-4.
