College Golf Results – Guilford Second After 18 Holes of Ted Keller Memorial

GLEN ALLEN, Va. – Guilford College shot 294 in Saturday’s opening round of the Ted Keller Memorial at the par-72, 6,882-yard Hunting Hawk Golf Club. The Quakers, ranked fifth in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll, trail tournament host Randolph-Macon College by four strokes in the 11-team field.

The Quakers placed four students among the low-nine scorers in the 66-man field. Guilford sophomore Nick Shedd shares second place with Randolph-Macon’s Kyle Jeans after Saturday’s one-under-par 71. The pair sits one stroke behind leader Kyle Fuller of Randolph-Macon, who came in with a two-under 70.

Guilford senior Noah Ratner carded a one-over 73 and shares sixth place with teammate Dallas Page (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County (Averett)) , one of five Quakers’ individuals in the field. Rookie Ben Pinkleton (Greensboro, N.C./Northeast Guilford) made his college golf debut with a 75 Saturday and is in a seven-way tie for ninth place, along with teammate Drew Thompson.

The 36-hole tournament, which features six Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) schools, wraps up with 18 holes on Sunday.
