College Volleyball Final – Guilford 3, Hollins 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Brittany DeCesare posted a game-high 12 kills in Guilford’s 3-0 win (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) over visiting Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)-foe Hollins University Friday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House.

Guilford (9-12, 3-4 ODAC) never led by more than three points in the tight first set but came back with vengeance in the second. The Quakers led by as many as eight points and did not fall behind after the score was tied 2-2 early. The third and final set played out similarly, ending with a decisive kill by junior Malikah French, who stood second on the team with nine kills on .316 hitting.

Setter Taylor Whitley tallied 24 aces and a team-high 12 digs defensively. Rookie Kelsey Ruehling and DeCesare added 11 and 10 digs respectively.

Senior Ally Reed’s nine kills and 10 digs led Hollins (7-16, 1-6 ODAC). Sophomore Lauren Hays added six kills on .417 hitting. Rookie Lela Moore contributed 17 assists and 11 digs. Defensive specialist Jessie Deese led Hollins’ defense with 15 digs.

The Quakers play their next match Wednesday night against conference opponent Washington and Lee University at 7:00 p.m..
