GC Men’s Basketball Ranked Third in USA South Preseason Poll

The Pride men’s basketball team was selected third in the USA South preseason poll released on Wednesday afternoon. Greensboro received 48 votes, finishing only behind Maryville’s 57 and Christopher Newport’s 64.

Head coach Bryan Galuski and The Pride are looking to build off of the momentum of an 18-10 season that was highlighted by a run to the USA South tournament championship game. Greensboro returns three players with more than 17 games of starting experience last season.

Two of The Pride’s top three scorers – Luqman Tijani and Damian Dixon – are back. Tijani averaged 12.9 points per game with Dixon contributing 11.8.

Greensboro also welcomes back the services of point guard Chakiris Moss. Moss chipped in 7.4 points per game and led the team with 4.4 assists per game.

The Pride are scheduled to kick-off the 2012-13 slate with an exhibition game on November 9 at North Carolina A&T State. Greensboro’s first regular season game is set for November 16 against Virginia-Lynchburg at the Averett University Classic.
