College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 3, Sweet Briar 1

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Rookie Kelli Uresti scored a goal and an assist in Guilford College’s 3-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer win at Sweet Briar College Saturday.

Uresti set up Guilford’s (4-14, 3-8 ODAC) first tally by heading a Cassie Vaughn corner kick on goal. Vixens’ goalie Katherine Tillson deflected the shot, but Guilford’s Libby Hicks gathered the rebound and netted her first goal as a Quaker.

The score was 1-0 at halftime before Guilford’s Sarah Levitt doubled the visitors’ advantage with her fourth goal of the year. Lynn Lunde got Sweet Briar on the board in the 52nd minute before Uresti iced the win 12 minutes later with her team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The Quakers held a 28-11 edge in shots and took four of the game’s six corner kicks. Miriam Davis Rosenbaum notched her first win in goal with three saves in over 78 minutes. Abby Gove finished in net and recorded two stops. Tillson made 11 saves for Sweet Briar (0-12-1, 0-10-1 ODAC).

Guilford closes out the regular season Tuesday night (10/23) at home against league-rival Emory & Henry College at 6:00 p.m.
