GREENSBORO, N.C. — Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) swimming coaches picked Guilford College ninth in the league’s preseason poll released Friday. Five-time defending ODAC champ Washington and Lee University received 64 points to outdistance Randolph-Macon College in the nine-team poll.
Quakers’ head coach Emily Wilson leads Guilford after a short stint as interim head coach during the second half of the 2011-12 season. She returns four letter winners from the club that that placed eighth at the 2012 ODAC Championships. Guilford returns junior Kendra Medina, who holds three top-ten times in school history. She placed 16th three times (100- and 200-yard backstroke and 400-yard individual medley) at last year’s ODAC Championships. Senior Becca Dozier had the Quakers’ fastest times in the 100- and 500-freestyle last year, as well as the 100-backstroke.
Guilford takes to the pool to open its seventh swimming season Oct. 20 in a relay meet at Washington and Lee.
This year’s ODAC Championship is slated for February 8-10 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
