GC Women’s Soccer Suffers 1-0 Setback at Meredith

A late goal downed The Pride women’s soccer team in a key USA South showdown at Meredith on Saturday.

Danielle Lee found the back of the net in the 85th minute to break open a 0-0 tie. Lee’s goal was assisted by Jessie Davis and Sarah Varnell.

Neither team could muster momentum for much of the day, with the Avenging Angels attempting six total shots – three each half – compared to just one for Greensboro. Meredith placed four attempts on goal while the lone Pride attempt by Sydney Boggs was also on goal.

Shireen Unvala took the loss in goal despite a three save effort.

Greensboro drops to 6-9 overall and 5-4 in the USA South with the loss. The Pride will have a quick turnaround, traveling to William Peace on Sunday for a 2 p.m. match.
