College Men’s Cross Country Results – Guilford Fourth at ODAC Championships

PENN LAIRD, Va. — Lynchburg College claimed its fourth straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Cross Country Championship title Saturday.

The Hornets dominated the 102-man field, picking up 28 points. Bridgewater College (57) and Roanoke College (134) finished second and third, respectively. Guilford (136) edged Washington and Lee University (137) for fourth place.

Lynchburg’s Cody Stanton crossed the finish line first in 26 minutes, 16.11 seconds to capture ODAC Runner of the Year accolades. Bridgewater’s Luke Sohl completed the eight-kilometer course in 26:31.66 to finish second. Lynchburg’s Lawrence Minor was third with his 26:43.01 finish.

Andris Goncarovs (Ithaca, N.Y./Lehman Alternative Community School (SUNY Buffalo)) (26:43.21) finished fourth to lead Guilford and earn First-Team All-ODAC honors. Chad Norton (Walled Lake, Mich./Walled Lake) (27:01.49) and David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) (27:21.90) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, earning Second Team All-ODAC accolades. Richard Rogers (31:25.43) and Patrick Westervelt (33:46.76) rounded out Guilford’s top-five finishers. Matthew McKeown and Yashua Clemons finished in 34:21.38 and 39:50.51, respectively.

The top-14 finishers earned All-ODAC honors. The first seven received All-ODAC First Team accolades, while the second seven garnered All-ODAC Second Team awards.

Guilford returns to action Nov. 10 at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Championships in Georgia.
