Elon Volleyball’s Deatsch Earns SoCon Defensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon volleyball’s Ali Deatsch has been named the Southern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today, Nov. 12. This is the second time this season and the fourth time in her career that Deatsch has received the honor.

Deatsch led the defensive effort in Elon’s two wins last week with 47 digs, averaging 6.71 per set, and four aces. At UNCG, the senior finished with 20 digs for five per set and two aces. The Elmhurst, Ill., native took the four-hour physics portion of the GRE Saturday morning before recording 34 digs for an impressive 11.3 per set in the team’s sweep at The Citadel that night.

Elon earned the SoCon North Divisions second seed in the SoCon Tournament and will play the South Division’s third seed in Furman in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. in Davidson, N.C.
