HPU Men’s Basketball: Lepler, Stephenson To Call Games on 1230 AM-WFMR

This year, Evan Lepler is the High Point University men’s basketball team’s radio play-by-play broadcaster while Stafford Stephenson will provide color commentary. Every game will be broadcasted on ESPN Radio, 1230 AM-WFMR and free on the web at highpointpanthers.com.

Lepler previously was High Point University’s women’s basketball broadcaster for four seasons. In the summer, Lepler serves as play-by-play broadcaster for the Salem Red Sox, the Boston Red Sox’s Single-A affiliate in Salem, Va. He also broadcasts many other events, including Big South Conference football games on ESPN3. He is a 2007 graduate of Wake Forest.

Lepler replaced Jason Benetti, who was the Panthers’ play-by-play broadcaster for the previous six seasons.

Stephenson is beginning his 11th season on High Point’s radio broadcasts. He was previously assistant coach at Wake Forest, Evansville and Southern Illinois and finished his coaching career as head coach at Wingate. Originally from Marion, Va., he is a graduate of Emory and Henry College.

Lepler and Stephenson began the season broadcasting the exhibition game vs. Mars Hill College and they were on the call for HPU’s season-opening win over UNC Greensboro last Friday.

In addition to ESPN Radio, all HPU men’s basketball games are available for free on highpointpanthers.com. Live audio is available on any computer or mobile device on the Men’s Basketball Live Audio page.
