Last Time Out
The Phoenix picked up its first conference win of the season with a strong 64-48 victory at Western Carolina on Monday. Three Elon players scored in double figures, led by 14 from both Kelsey Evans and Ali Ford. Elon shot a season-high 50 percent from the field off 15-of-29 attempts and outscored the Catamounts 34-20 in the paint. The game marked Ford’s fifth straight in double figures and the fourth double-double of the season for Evans who finished with 10 boards.
Scouting the Wolfpack
NC State enters the game against Elon with a 5-4 record and scoring 76.1 points per game. Junior forward Kody Burke is the team’s leading scorer (15.7 ppg) and rebounder (8.2 rpg) and ranks fifth and eighth in the ACC in those categories, respectively. The Wolfpack opened the season with an 85-45 win against another SoCon program in Wofford. NCSU is led by fourth-year head coach Kellie Harper who spent five seasons coaching Western Carolina prior to her time with the Wolfpack.
The Phoenix and Wolfpack have met five times on the hardwood since 1972. NC State was won all five games, including a 65-41 victory in the last meeting in 2008.
Sunday will be a homecoming of sorts for both senior Kelsey Evans and assistant coach Cristy McKinney. Evans is from the Raleigh, N.C., area and played high school ball at nearby Wakefield. McKinney is a 1979 graduate of NC State and played for the former Elon and Wolfpack coach Kay Yow.
Dishing It Out

Elon will return home for its last home game of 2012 on Thursday, Dec. 13, against Morgan State. Anyone that brings a coat for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Coat Drive will receive one free admission per coat. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
