College Women’s Basketball News – Gabby Oglesby Named Guilford Student-Athlete of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Gabby Oglesby (Winston-Salem, N.C./Parkland) of the women’s basketball team collected her second Guilford Student-Athlete of the Week Award of the season Monday. The honor is presented weekly by the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Oglesby, a 6-foot forward, averaged 16.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in the Quakers’ 2-0 week. She led Guilford with 16 points and 14 rebounds in a home win over William Peace University Dec. 5. Oglesby also had nine offensive rebounds and three blocks in the game. She notched her 15th career double-double with 16 points and 15 boards, both game and season highs, in the Quakers’ Dec. 8 victory at Virginia Wesleyan College. Oglesby also contributed two blocks and two assists in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

Through eight games this season, Oglesby leads Guilford and is ranked 14th in the ODAC with 14.1 points per outing. Her 7.2 rebounds per game stand second on the club and ninth in the league. She also has a conference-best 15 blocked shots and ranks second in the ODAC with 1.7 rejections per contest. Oglesby is ranked 14th in school history with 499 career rebounds.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s Quakers (7-2, 2-1 ODAC) return to action this weekend with nonconference contests at Hood College (12/15) and Marymount (Va.) University (12/16). Guilford returns home to play league-rival Randolph-Macon College Jan. 5 at 2:00 p.m.
