Grimsley Whirlies lose long-time teacher, coach, assitstant principal and athletic trainer Jim Ballance

The Grimsley Whiriles were saddened to learn that Jim Ballance passed away this week, on Thursday December 27.

Mr. Jim Ballance was an English Teacher, Assistant Principal, Athletic Trainer and Coach from the early 1960s through the early 1990s. He was also brother-in-law of Coach Bob Sawyer(long-time Grimsley swim coach and AD), and will be truly missed by the Whirlie Nation and family.

*****We knew Jim Ballance back in the late 80’s and early 90’s….He was a caller to sport talk radio on 1400AM WKEW and he made a couple of trips to see Atlanta Braves baseball at the old Fulton County Stadium…The radio station carried the Braves’ games and we bus trips each to see them play…..*****
