Evan Emery Leads HPU Men’s Track and Field During Day One of the Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Junior Evan Emery finished eighth in the 60-meter dash to lead the HPU men’s track and field team at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., on Friday night. Freshman Will Narramore also picked up a top-ten finish in the triple jump.

Emery qualified for the 60-meter final after finishing second in his preliminary heat with a time of 6.94. The junior turned in a time of 6.97 in the final to finish in eighth place. This was Emery’s first race of the indoor season.

Narramore jumped a career-best 13.20 meters (43-3.75) in the triple jump to finish in ninth place in his second collegiate meet. He also finished in 14th in the 300-meter run with a time of 37.82.

Freshman Dennis Campbell joined Narramore in the 300-meters and finished in 13th with a time of 36.68. Campbell ran in the 60-meter hurdles preliminary and finished just outside the qualifying group in 11th place with a time of 8.49.

The Virginia Tech Invitational continues on Saturday, Jan. 19, in Blacksburg, Va.
