HPU Women’s Track and Field Competes In Day One of the Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The High Point University women’s track and field team opened 2013 at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday in Blacksburg, Va. Freshman Lilla Loránd was the Panthers’ top finisher for the day with a 13th-place showing in the 300-meter run.

Lorand finished the 300 meters with a time of 41.20. Sophomore Emily Fischer also competed in the event, finishing in 21st with a time of 42.56.

HPU had two runners competing in the one-mile run as junior Kayleigh Perry finished in 18th with a time of 5:16.82 and freshman Julia Zautcke came in 24th with a time of 5:26.65.

Freshman Katie Farina was the first of two High Point finishers in the 1000-meter run, crossing the line in 18th with a time of 3:03.01. Sophomore Sarah Dorrell also competed in the event and finished in 21st with a time of 3:06.60.

The Virginia Tech Invitational continues on Saturday, Jan. 19, in Blacksburg, Va.
