Elon Women’s Basketball’s Ford Tabbed SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon women’s basketball player Ali Ford has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for game through Jan. 21, the league office announced today.

Ford averaged 17 points per game in two wins for Elon last week, helping the team extend its current win streak to six games. The senior went 10-of-20 from the field for a 50 percent shooting percentage and made 5-of-8 three pointers to shot 62 percent from beyond the arc. She scored a game-high 21 points against Furman and tied her career high of eight assists. At College of Charleston, Ford finished with 13 points and four assists, while also moving in the SoCon’s top-10 all-time scoring list. She is now seven threes away from breaking the SoCon’s all-time record of 315 career three pointers. The Morganton, N.C., native also went a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe and averaged six assists per game last week.

Elon will play its next game at Davidson on Saturday, Jan. 26. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Belk Arena.
