GC Women’s Lacrosse Nabs Second Spot in USA South Preseason Poll

The Greensboro College women’s lacrosse team picked up the second spot in the USA South preseason coaches poll on Wednesday. The Pride fielded a young team a year ago and posted a record of 5-9 overall and 5-2 in the conference with a bid in the USA South tournament semifinals.

This season’s group will provide more experience experience for second year head coach Rob Bickerstaff. His team returns eight players with multiple starts under their belts, including three of the top four in total points.

First Team USA South All-Conference attacker and team leading scorer Brittany Ziobro is back for her senior season. She totaled team bests in points with 80, goals with 59 and assists with 21.

Greensboro will also depend on fellow All-Conference selections and all-around players in Nadya Fedun and Kayla Gonzalez. The two racked up solid numbers on both the offensive and defensive ends, ranking highly amongst the team in goals, points, ground balls and caused turnovers.

Despite all of the returning experience, one area where The Pride will look to a new face will be in goal this year. However, Bickerstaff has brought in competition that will look to drop the 11.50 goals per game average that Greensboro gave up last year.

The Pride will hit the field for the first time on February 10 at the Guilford Quaker Challenge.
