The GTCC baseball team rallied for 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning of Game 2 and hung on to beat visiting Rockingham Community College 6-5 to salvage a split of the Sunday doubleheader. GTCC runs their record to 3-1 on the young season.

Trailing 4-0 in Game 2, Titan outfielder AJ James ripped a 1-out double to start the Titan rally. Tommy Marshall followed with an RBI single. Titan pinch hitter Zannie Seagraves was hit by a pitch and pinch hitter Carlos Alegria followed with a sharp single to left. Cody Adkins, the third Titan pinch hitter in a row, drew a bases loaded walk to cut the Eagle lead to 2 at 4-2. Kegan Mahaffey and Ernesto Fernandez followed with back to back RBI singles to tie the game at 4. An Eagle wild pitch allowed the Titans to take the lead 5-4. Edwin Soto followed with an infield single that plated another Titan run to give Tech a 6-4 lead heading into the top of the 7th inning. Jake Walser pitched the 7th for the Titans and held off a furious Eagle rally to preserve the Titan win by the score of 6-5.

In Game 1, RCC took advantage of 4 Titan errors and won 3-2. The Titans wasted great pitching performances from start Garrett Hickman and reliever Matt Huneycutt as they limited RCC to only 1 hit for the entire game. Dillon Barker was 1-3 with 1 RBI for GTCC.

The Titans return to action on Saturday as they travel to Wake Tech Community College for a double header. The Titans will be at home on Sunday for another double header with Wake Tech. Game time is 1:00 and will be played at Ragsdale High School.
