Eastern Mennonite Snaps the Quakers’ 11-Game Winning Streak

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Eastern Mennonite University’s Kala Yoders and Steph Rheinheimer scored 12 points apiece in the Royals’ 54-47 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Guilford College Saturday. The hosts snapped the Quakers’ 11-game winning streak. Eastern Mennonite and Guilford are ranked seventh and eighth, respectively, in this week’s NCAA Division III South Region Poll.

Eastern Mennonite (17-5, 13-1 ODAC) scored the first two buckets of the game after three Quaker misses. The Royals entered the locker room after an 8-0 run to end the first half. Guilford returned to the court and turned the ball over three times before making its first second-half point. Logan Hardin’s jumper with 8:26 left in the game brought the Quakers within 10 but Eastern Mennonite countered and never gave up their lead.

Gabby Oglesby paced the Quakers (19-4, 12-2 ODAC) with game-highs in points (13) and rebounds (11). Hardin scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench. Kayla Adams had nine points and two assists. Brittany Atwater tallied five assists. Jaclyn Nucci amassed a game-high four steals.

Bianca Ygarza had nine rebounds for the Royals. Alisa Brown scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds. Raiven Patterson and Shakeerah Sykes also had seven points apiece in the win.
