Elon Women’s Basketball Heads to Birmingham to Battle Bulldogs

ELON, N.C. – The Elon women’s basketball team (12-10, 9-4 SoCon) will look to get back in the win column when it takes on Samford (11-13, 8-6 SoCon) on Monday, Feb. 11, in the Birmingham, Ala. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. (eastern) in the Pete Hanna Center.

Last Time Out
Elon suffered a 63-40 loss at Chattanooga on Saturday after leading by as much as nine in the first half. Despite the loss, Kelsey Evans led all players with 19 points and came close to a double-double with eight boards. Kelsey Harris scored eight points, while Ali Ford finished with five assists and Autumn Carter blocked three shots.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Samford is coming off a 52-51 loss to UNCG on Saturday and will look to snap a three-game skid against Elon. The Bulldogs led by seven at the break but came out on the losing side after the Spartans hit its last field goal with 30 seconds remaining. Jazmine Martin is the Bulldogs’ leading scorer with 11.3 points per game, while Hannah Dawson pulls down 7.1 rebounds per game.

The Series
The Bulldogs lead the series, 7-4, but Elon is closing the gap after winning the last meeting earlier this season. The Phoenix claimed a 65-41 victory on Jan. 5 of this year, which started a seven-game win streak for the team. Kelsey Harris scored a game-high 15 points, while Kelsey Evans (12) and Ali Ford (11) also finished in double figures. Jessica Farmer also finished with a career-high six assists.
