The Greensboro baseball team (7-4, 3-4 USA South) defeated #8 nationally ranked Christopher Newport (8-2-1, 6-1 USA South) 2-1 on Sunday night. The Pride rode the arm of John Atkins, who threw seven strong innings before handing it over to the bullpen to finish out the game.
Christopher Newport would strike first with one run in the top of the first inning to take 1-0 lead. Greensboro responded in the second inning by scoring two runs to take the lead.

Atkins handled the rest on the mound for his first win on the season, limiting the Captains to one run on five hits and striking out five over seven innings.
