High Point’s Corey Law Advances in Dark Horse Dunker Voting

Redshirt-senior Corey Law of the High Point University men’s basketball team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dark Horse Dunker competition. Fans can vote every day at http://www.collegeslam2013.com and the winner gets to compete in the College Slam Dunk Competition during the Final Four.

Law is one of the final eight remaining in the Dark Horse Dunker competition after defeating Murray State’s Ed Daniel by a wide margin in the first round. Dark Horse Dunker nominees are “under-the-radar” players who have what it takes to compete in the slam dunk competition in Atlanta.

The 2013 Denny’s Slam Dunk Competition at the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships is in Atlanta at 7 p.m. on April 4. It will be televised live on ESPN.

Law is facing-off against Indiana Tech’s Antonio Cannon in the quarterfinals.

Law was selected for his “dynamic combination of power and elevation” shown in this submission video. The official statement read: “Law flashes the in-game ability to dunk over anyone, and on the practice court, he can close a between-the-legs jam with ease.”

Law is a 6-foot-6, 215-pound redshirt-senior forward for the Panthers. He has scored 849 points (8.1 ppg) and grabbed 663 rebounds (6.3 per game) in his four seasons. Law’s 663 rebounds rank third on High Point’s NCAA Div. I rebounding list. Law is originally from Chesapeake, Va., and attended Deep Creek High School. He was an All-State selection and was named 2008 All-Tidewater Player of the Year and Southeastern District Player of the Year as a senior.

High Point is 16-11 overall and 11-3 in Big South play with two regular-season games remaining.
