College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 21, Greensboro 7

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior E’leyna Garcia (Plantation, Fla./Pine Crest Prep) scored a school-record 10 goals in Guilford College’s 21-7 lacrosse win over crosstown-rival Greensboro College Wednesday.

Garcia tallied six times in the first half, which helped Guilford open a 12-4 halftime advantage. She scored her final four goals during the Quakers’ (2-1) 6-0 run that ended the game. Garcia’s 10 goals broke the former standard of nine, set by Julie Sullivan ’93 in April 1993. While she did not record an assist, her 10 points rank second in school history. She climbed into seventh among Guilford’s career goal-scoring leaders with 121 goals in 38 career contests.

Lily Colley added four goals and three assists for Guilford, which matched the fourth-highest single-game scoring total in school history. The Quakers also had 21 goals in last year’s 21-8 victory over the Pride. Eleanora Keene totaled three goals, three assists and a game-high seven draw controls. Becca Colley finished with two goals, one assist, four ground balls and six draw controls. Goaltender Liza Mettler also had four ground balls and stopped two shots in goal.

Kirstin Norris scored three goals and Alexa Besch added two. Kaleigh Hemstock stopped nine shots in goal for Greensboro (0-3).

Guilford hosts Wittenberg University Wednesday (3/6) at 3:00 p.m.
