Greensboro College Men’s Lacrosse Breezes by Randolph for 12-5 Victory

(LYNCHBURG, V.A.) — The Pride men’s lacrosse team (1-4 overall) jumped all over Randolph (1-3 overall) for a 12-5 road victory on Wednesday. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Pride Field but was moved to Randolph as a result of heavy rains in the area.

Greensboro went up 2-0 after one period and extended the lead to a comfortable 5-1 advantage at the half.

Ryan McNamara got the scoring explosion going with a goal 2:14 into the game. Scott Showalter followed with an unassisted score just over one minute later to give The Pride a 2-0 lead.

Showalter converted a man-up goal to jump start the second period before the Wildcats found the board to pull within 3-1.

Jaeger Carlyle and Denis Radcliffe padded the lead, with Radcliffe adding the final tally of the half at the 5:59 mark.

Greensboro came out firing in the second, scoring the first five goals to push the margin to 10-1. Joining the fun for The Pride were Carylye, Brodie Caperich, Radcliffe, and McNamara twice.

Greensboro continued to pour it on in the fourth period, with Thomas Brooks striking first at the 11:25 point to bring the lead to 11-2. Randolph was able to tack on three goals late but Brooks capped the scoring with his second goal in the final minute of play to seal the win.

The Pride held a 44-28 advantage in total shots and picked up 40 ground balls compared to 35 for the Wildcats. Greensboro also won 12-19 faceoff attempts and forced 21 turnovers.

McNamara led the charge with a game high three goals. Brooks, Showalter, Radcliffe and Carlyle added two apiece. Skip Jakupi recorded a team best nine ground balls and nine different Pride players caused a turnover.

Earning the win in net was Mitchell Kanowicz. Kanowicz made seven saves and allowed two goals in nearly 55 minutes.

Greensboro will hit the field on Saturday against Birmingham Southern. The game will be played at 2 p.m. at West Forsyth High School in Atlanta, GA.
