Ragsdale and East Forsyth went back and forth for five innings before the Eagles put the game away in the bottom of the sixth by scoring six runs. Ragsdale got on the board first with three runs in the top of the first inning. Niko Orfanedes singled to lead off and later scored on a Cesar Trejo single. Two more runs scored on a wild pitch and an error. East got one run in the bottom of the inning and then took the lead in the second when Zac Scudder hit a three run home run. Trailing 4 – 3 Ragsdale retook the lead in the top of the fifth on a Trejo double driving in Orfanedes who had led off with a single. Trejo later scored from third base on a two out throwing error to take a 5 – 4 lead. East tied it up in the bottom of the fifth on back to back singles and a Matt Freeman ground out.

Matt Horkey had gone the first five innings for the Tigers, giving up five runs on 8 hits, striking out 7. Leaving with the score tied at 5, Ragsdale’s bullpen could not hold the Eagles in the sixth. Three different pitchers gave up 6 runs on five hits and three walks before Nick Corey came in and faced one batter and got a double play with the bases loaded to end the inning. Eric Corleit came on to pitch the seventh for the Eagles and struck out the side to preserve the win.

Zac Scudder got the start for East Forsyth pitching four innings and then after giving up a leadoff single to start the fifth was replaced by Westmoreland. Scudder gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and struck out 9 batters.

Next up for Ragsdale is a Piedmont Triad Conference matchup at Southwest Guilford on Tuesday at 7 PM. East Forsyth is at home on Tuesday for a Conference game against Parkland with the first pitch scheduled for 7 PM.
