GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford College’s Josh Pittman (Archdale, N.C./Trinity) earned D3hoops.com Second Team All-South Region basketball honors Wednesday. Nominations were made by south region sports information directors and selected by a panel of sports information directors and writers from the popular NCAA Division III basketball website.
Pittman, a 6-1, 160-pound senior guard, earned his third straight First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) nods last month. He joined Ben Strong ’08 as the only Quakers so honored. Pittman ranks second in the ODAC with 17.3 points per game and leads the league in assists (5.0 apg.) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2). His 3.1 three-pointers per game ranked 14th among NCAA Division III leaders through games of March 10. Pittman led Guilford’s scorers 16 times this season and had 10 20-point games. His best contest of the year was a 32-point effort Jan. 9 at Emory & Henry College. He averaged 19.0 points and 4.1 assists against league rivals this year.
For his career, Pittman ranks 13th in school history with 1,497 career points and is sixth all-time with 312 assists. His 253 career three-pointers stand second at Guilford. The Quakers compiled an 82-30 record in Pittman’s four seasons with an ODAC Tournament title and a trip to the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals.
Coach Tom Palombo’s Quakers recorded a 19-8 overall record and reached the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.
