  3. How will the Mid-Piedmont 3A playout this year. Does anyone other than Ledford or Northeast have a chance. Asheboro and Southwest appear to be down this year. North Forsyth is not too strong. I have noticed Southern Guilford winning some games this year. Could they be a sleeper in the conference and have something for Northeast or Ledford?

  4. NE guilford will still matchup with Eastern Guilford in the easter tournament, should be interesting to see how NE will come out in that game. The Rams have come out strong in conference play so they should be ready for a good game with the wildcats.

  5. I don’t know how the easter tournament game will shake out but EG has already beaten NE once this year.

  6. JackMUp…..i agree with you i think that the Southern Storm could be a sleeper this year in the Mid-Piedmont 3A and upset some teams. They have a ton of talent on that bsaeball team, seen them play a few times this year and they are young but keep improving and getting better. I am predicting that they give the favorites of NE Guilford and Ledford a run for the top 2 spots in the conference this year in baseball

  7. I keep hearing about players from different schools in the piedmont triad and around NC so far this year already having hurt arms and sore arms for several days after pitching. Coaches please be careful with these arms. It’s cold and these players are throwing way too many pitches. I am hearing #’s from 85 to 120 pitches a night. There is no W worth that! Coaches lets cut these guys off around 70-75. Too much on their arms, most of them play another position as well. They come out of the game and then go play 3rd, SS etc and make more throws. Be smart! Parents don’t be afraid to step up and tell a coach he’s done or he has 70 /75 pitches tonight and thats it. He is your son by the way, not the property of the school. Whats the school going to do for them when they hurt their arm?…nothing. They won’t be the one with them through the whole rehab process, and wont be the one to pay for everything they need to get healthy again! Take care of these kids arms….PLEASE!!!

  8. Pitching Guy, let the coaches coach their team. There is no coach that is going to hurt their players arms. All kids are different and there is no set number that a coach has to cut their player off at. A Coach knows his own players bettter than any opposing coach or some guy in the stands who thinks he knows it all. So the coach will cut him off with the appropriate pitch count. Not everyone needs to be pulled out at 70 pitches.

Parents don’t listen to this guy. If you are concerened about how many pitches your son will throw then talk and meet with your son’s coach and your son and ya’ll can come up with an appropriate plan for your son and his arm and pitching. Each players arm is different and can handle a different amount of pitches, just have to know what’s right and the coach will know the best b/c he is working with the player each day at practice. The last thing a coach needs is parents upset b/c some so called expert “Pitching Guy” has said that everyone needs to come out after 70 pitches.

  9. Parents you do need to read my opinion above, because if you listen to the person that commented on my post , your son wont be able to brush his teeth by himself. For one – not all – but majority of these high school coaches – coach baseball from Feb. to May and thats it. Just because there a high school coach does it suddenly make them an expert and a better coach ? NO! A lot think so. We have some really good coaches in our area that know the game and can TEACH the game, but there a lot that don’t have a clue. Gurantee you most have not studied pitching in depth, the long term effects are of over throwing. Once school ball is over there done for another 8 months. So who knows best the guy that has him for 16 weeks or the coach that has him for the 8 months a year? Or The parent that lives with this kid 365 days a year! From a baseball perspective they don’t know him well enough to know what type of shape his arm is in. With most schools playing 3 days a week , most don’t throw bull pens between starts unless they do it on their own. Some don’t throw bullpens at all anyway. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Ask yourself is that 85-100 pitch count really worth that W? If you want to win…develop more pitching! Just my opinion. Need to read some articles written by Dr. Andrews and that might change your opinion some. Just stating my opinion doesn’t mean I’m right or wrong. Parents that are concerned about their sons arms , need to be in communication with the coach on his throwing, otherwise there going to leave him in until he cant throw anymore!

  10. I have to agree with “Pitching Guy”. Many kids elbows are not completely formed until 17 and some as late as 19 years of age. Many Ortho surgeons will tell you that after 65 pitches then chances of breaking the medial epicondyle goes up 70%. If elbow starts hurting then shut it down. Also, speaking from experience, many of these coaches do not know the kid and are not preparing them properly to pitch.

  11. You guys you are dead on! You must have struck a nerve with a coach or AD on the response not to listen to you. The coaches that I have met in school are after the WIN and they know more than you do because they played some collage ball and are still reliving there day’s. They don’t trust there releivers or closers so they ride that ace at all cost and will assure you they are taking care of him and you need to go away, they are not it’s about the win!! Play ball the real way when that starter has given you a chance go to your bull-pen and give him the chance to throw again before you hurt him. The count this time of year with the cold should be floating around 75 point blank, not 90-120 and then go play another position. When that kid is hurt just move on to the next kid, the mentality is unreal. And if you ever question then your a problem and need to go away such as the response telling you not to listen to picthig guy, you are nuts if you don’t think he brings up a valid point! Your not living in the real world and probabaly are taking your kids high numbers? There are guidlines put in place now by some cities for school ball and also Little League, the medical researce and studies back this up. I know there are some coaches out there that take care of there arms and we thank you! I am so glad someone finally brought this out in the open, great job from a concered parent. Parents please take care of your son as knowone else will!!
