The Pride men’s and women’s tennis teams were swept on the road by Methodist on Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday’s setbacks were the first conference defeats for both teams.
The men featured a tight match at number one doubles, with Zachary Passman and Kyle Gatti dropping a hard fought 8-6 decision to Dillon Sullivan and Lawrence Salman. In number five singles play, Matt Moscatello pushed Sullivan in the second set before falling 6-0, 7-5. Matthew Miller also hung tough at one singles, dropping a 6-1, 6-4 final to Duncan Miller.
Meredith Kelly was the lone player on the women’s side to win a game, but came up short in the end at one singles to Katherine Meindl.
The men are now 3-4 on the year and 2-1 in the USA South, while the women fall to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The women will return to the courts on Saturday William Peace, with the guys getting back to action on March 29 at home against LaGrange.
