College Track & Field News—Guilford Breaks Five School Records at WSSU Invitational, Finishes Strong at Raleigh Relays 10K

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Guilford College Track and Field broke five school records at the Winston-Salem State University Invitational Saturday afternoon. Guilford’s distance runners challenged the top ten of the 10,000 meter run at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University.

Josh Farrar (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) broke the 400 meter dash record with a time of 49.67 seconds, placing fourth in the race. Farrar (22.76 seconds) also placed 10th in the 200 meter dash.

Karima Jackson (McLeansville, N.C./Eastern Guilford) (13.34 seconds) broke the school’s 100 meter dash record by .51 seconds. Jennifer Thomas took the second best time in school history at 13.67 seconds.

Rachel Flint broke her own school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.28, 3.21 seconds better than her previous record-breaking mark. Jasmine O’Neill (Winston-Salem, N.C./Parkland) took the second best time in school history with a time of 1:08.38.

The 4×100 meter relay team of Jennifer Thomas (Randleman, N.C./Randleman), Sydney MacDonald (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford), Jasmine O’Neill, and Jackson broke the school-best mark with a time of 55.38 seconds, .64 seconds better than the previous record.

Yashua Clemons (1:00.32) improved on his own 400 meter hurdles record by .8 seconds, finishing second in the race.

David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) took second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:08.60.

The men’s 4×100 meter relay team of Kash Alberts, Emmanuel Williams (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale), Rod Walker, and C.J. Green finished third in the race with a time of 44.69 seconds, .3 seconds away from the school record.

Emily Cash won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 13:38.08.

Andris Goncarovs and Chad Norton both competed in the 10,000 meter run at the Raleigh Relays. Norton finished 10th with a time of 31:57.48, the second best time in school history. Goncarovs (32:01.79) finished 12th.

The Quakers return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
