GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College head football coach Chris Rusiewicz announced the intention of five more incoming students to play football for the Quakers Monday. The students have made their deposits to the college and will enroll for classes beginning in August. The announcement raises Rusiewicz’s fourth recruiting class at Guilford to 23 students.
Trey Dill (Indian Trail, N.C.) lettered three seasons at Porter Ridge High School for coach Blair Hardin. The 6-1, 225-pound lineman helped the Pirates set a school record with 3,798 rushing yards last season. The offense also averaged 6.62 yards per carry and 253 yards per game. Dill helped Porter Ridge to four Southern Carolina Conference Championships and two state 4A championship games. The Pirates were 27-4 in his final two seasons. He lettered twice with the baseball team and once as a thrower on the track and field squad. Dill is a New Century Scholar and served as an assistant coach with Porter Ridge Middle School’s offensive and defensive lines. He intends to study criminal justice at Guilford.
James Foushee Jr. (Sanford, N.C.) lettered two seasons at Lee County High School for coach Burton Cates. He joins teammate Reese Setzer as Lee County students who have made deposit at Guilford and intend to play football. Foushee, a 5-9, 180-pound running back, was an All-Tri 9 Conference selection and named the team’s Most Improved Player. He tallied 23 rushing touchdowns and 1,200 rushing yards in his senior year. Foushee helped the Yellow Jackets to their best record (9-4) in 30 years. An Academic all-conference selection, he was also the Most Valuable Sprinter on Lee County’s indoor track and field teams in 2012 and 2013. Foushee participated in Lee County’s DECA and FCA clubs. His sister, Jasmine, is a member of the Campbell University’s track and field team. Foushee intends to major in business management at Guilford.
Nick Lamach (Mooresville, N.C.) lettered two seasons at Davidson Day School for coach Chad Grier. The 6-3, 260-pound offensive tackle was twice named to the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II All-State team and tabbed to the 2012 All-Carolina Weekly Dream Team. A team captain, Lamach allowed no sacks as a senior and helped the Patriots to consecutive state titles in the program’s first two seasons. He also lettered with lacrosse team and played on the basketball team. Lamach was an honor roll student and involved with school theater productions.
Justin Malloy (Dunn, N.C.) lettered two seasons at Triton High School for coach Ashley Ennis. The 5-10, 180-pound linebacker was a First Team All-Eastern Carolina 3A Conference (ECC) pick and received the team’s Coaches’ Award. Malloy helped the Hawks to the first undefeated regular season in school history and ECC titles in 2011 and 2012. Triton led the league in scoring defense in both of his final two seasons. He made 60 tackles as a senior, 12 for loss. Malloy was also a member of the Gospel Choir and has performed at the Disney Stage, Carolina Opry, and the Brooklyn (N.Y.) Tabernacle.
Roger Patterson (Kernersville, N.C.) lettered three seasons at Carver High School for coach Melvin Palmer. The 6-5, 290-pound lineman was an All-Piedmont Athletic Conference-6 (PAC-6) performer his senior year. In 2010, he helped the team to the state 2A championship game. Patterson was an honor roll student and intends to study computer systems and information at Guilford.
Guilford opens the 2013 season Sept. 7 against Greensboro College in the Gate City Soup Bowl at 1:00 p.m.
