GC Men’s Golf Sits in Tie for 12th After Day 1 of Emory Spring Invitational

The Greensboro College men’s golf team is in a tie for 12th among 15 teams following day one of competition at the Emory Spring Invitational. The Pride shot a first day team score of 311 at the the par-72, 6,860 yard Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta, GA.

Scott Novicki and Gregory Pappas both shot a team best round of 77, to place in a tie for 38th in the individual standings. Nick Peoples was one stroke back at 78, with John Grimes following at 79. Chris Cox also carded an 87.

Novicki and Grimes led Greensboro with three birdies apiece on the day. Novicki birdied the par-5 7th and 9th holes, as well as the par-4 12th. Grimes contributed birdies on the par-5 7th and 14th holes, with the final one coming on the par-4 16th. Peoples finished with two birdies, while Pappas and Grimes recorded one.

Methodist heads the overall field at 285. Brian Jaeger of Christopher Newport is the top individual with a -3 under par 69.

The Pride will wrap-up the two day tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
