GC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Handle Bluefield

The Pride men’s and women’s tennis teams hung on to beat Bluefield at home on Wednesday. The men pulled out a 6-3 win, while the women came away with a 5-4 victory.

On the men’s side, Greensboro went up 2-1 following singles play with the help of an 8-5 win by Zach Passman and Kyle Gatti at number one.

The Pride finished out the match in singles with a 7-5, 6-1 win by Gatti at number two and a 6-2, 6-3 victory by Matthew Troy at four. Greensboro also benefitted by default wins at three doubles and five and six singles.

The women got the day rolling with an 8-1 win by Meredith Kelly and Elizabeth Adair at number one doubles. Kelly earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at one singles, while Paige Brown picked up a key 6-0, 6-1 victory at two.

The Pride women also earned default wins at three doubles and six singles.

The Greensboro men improve to 6-6 on the season, while the women move to 3-8.
