College Track & Field News – Cason, Jackson Break Schools Records in Day Two of the Duke Invitation

DURHAM, N.C.—Guilford College’s David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) and Karima Jackson (McLeansville, N.C./Eastern Guilford) both set new school records in the Quakers’ second day at the Duke Invitational. The Quakers raced against teams from all NCAA Divisions in the meet.

Cason broke school’s the 3,000 meter steeplechase record by 5.77 seconds with a time of 9:18.71. The time was good for sixth overall and was the best Division III time in the field. Cason missed the top five, largely comprised with Division I runners, by 9.99 seconds.

Jackson broke the school’s 200 meter dash record by .39 seconds with a time of 28.81 seconds. Jackson picked up her second school record in as many weeks with the sixth best Division III time in the race. Jackson (13.98 seconds) also took the tenth best Division III time in the 100 meter dash.

Sydney MacDonald (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford) (30.43 seconds) finished the 200 meter dash with the ninth best Division III time.

Emmanuel Williams (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) finished the 100 meter dash with the sixth best Division III time at 11.92 seconds. Williams (24.13 seconds) also won his section of the 200 meter dash and finished with the fifth best Division III time in the overall field.

Kash Alberts (24.50 seconds) finished with the sixth best Division III time in the 200 meter dash overall field. Alberts also took the sixth best Division III time in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.52 seconds.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) finished with the second best Division III time in the 2,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:07.10.

The Quakers return to the track Friday, April 12th and Saturday, April 13th for the Aggie Invitational at North Carolina A&T.
