Frostburg State Rallies Past GC Men’s Lacrosse for 13-10 Win

The Pride men’s lacrosse team (4-9 overall) outshot Frostburg State (8-4 overall) 43-39, but let a first period lead slip away in a 13-10 road loss on Sunday.

Charles Stringfellow opened the scoring with a man-up goal from Ryan McNamara less then five minutes into the game. Blaine Wise found net for Greensboro just over one minute later to extend the advantage to 2-0.

The Bobcats found the goal with 3:26 to go in the first period to cut the deficit in half. Maxx Aiken got the score back for The Pride with just over 1:19 left.

Frostburg State turned the tide with the final goal of the first quarter and took the lead at 4-3 with the first two scores of the second.

Justin Pearson provided the equalizer at the 5:28 mark to get Greensboro back on track. The Bobcats regained the advantage with three unanswered goals to pull ahead 7-4.

The Pride narrowed the gap heading into the half, with Jaeger Carlyle and Alexander Vander Hoff scoring in the final 1:02.

Frostburg State answered in the second half, posting three scores to push the lead to 10-6. Greensboro continued to fight back, with Brodie Ceperich scoring at the end of the third, and Pearson early in the fourth to bring the score to 10-8 with 14:25 left.

The Bobcats took the lead back to 12-8, before Scott Showalter converted a man-up goal with 2:52 remaining in the game. The Pride would climb no closer then three, as Frostburg State would score with 1:50 to go. Thomas Brooks provided the last score of the day for Greensboro.

With the exception of a 12 for 26 mark in faceoffs, The Pride won nearly every major statistical category. In addition to shots, Greensboro picked up 50 ground balls, compared to 44 for the Bobcats and forced 24 turnovers, while committing 17.

The Pride will return home on April 13 against Ferrum at 1 p.m. on Pride Field.
