GC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Handed 8-1 Setbacks to NC Wesleyan

The Greensboro College men’s and women’s tennis teams were dealt identical 8-1 road losses at North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday. The women fall to 3-11 overall and 2-9 in the USA South, with the men dropping to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

Meredith Kelly was the lone victor on the women’s side, picking up a win in the number one singles position. Kelly was leading Samia Kacher 6-1, 1-0, when Kacher was forced to retire from the match. Paige Brown nearly picked up a second singles win, falling in the end at the second position 6-4, 6-2.

Kelly and Elizabeth Adair teamed up at one doubles in a hard fought 8-3 setback.

Ian Weiner earned the only win for The Pride men, beating Clifton Lesak 6-3, 6-0 in the six singles spot. Weiner and doubles teammate Brett Graeser also had a strong showing before suffering an 8-5 loss in the third position.

Sunday’s match marks the conclusion of the season for the Greensboro women. The men will gear up for the USA South tournament next weekend with a Tuesday match at Lynchburg.
