GC Women’s Lacrosse Advances With 14-4 Win Over LaGrange

The Greensboro College women’s lacrosse team (8-9 overall) advanced to the USA South Tournament semifinals with a 14-4 home win over LaGrange (6-9 overall) on Saturday. The Pride will face Ferrum on Friday, April 12 at Rocky Mount, NC.

It was all Greensboro from the start in this one, as The Pride took a 10-0 lead into the break and led by as many as 12 in the victory. The Panthers were forced to go a player down for the remainder of the game when Ashley Davis picked up her second yellow card of the day with 3:57 to go in the first half.

Brittany Ziobro netted four first half goals and five total on the day to move within three goals of the single season school record of 61. She also passed out five assists to finish with ten points, nearing the single season mark of 98.

Also contributing to the first half flurry was Alexa Besch with three of her four goals, Kirstin Norris with two of her three goals and Nadya Fedun with one. Kayla Gonzalez found net in the second to reach the scoring column as well.

In addition to Ziobro’s five assists, Micaela Sandoval contributed three assists, while Fedun recorded one. Fedun led The Pride with five draw control wins, Kendra Allbritton had a team high three ground balls and Ziobro forced a team leading three turnovers. Kaleigh Hemstock picked up the win in goal with a three-save effort.

Overall, Greensboro outshot LaGrange 36-9, won 13 of the 20 draw controls, forced 22 turnovers and picked up 14 ground balls, compared to six for the Panthers.

The Pride’s semi final match with Ferrum will begin at 3:30 p.m.
