GC Men’s Golf Finishes Third at USA South Championship

The Pride men’s golf team moved up two spots on Sunday to conclude the three-day USA South Championship in third place place. Greensboro recorded its best team score of the weekend at 299 and finished with an overall 54-hole total of 916 (313-304-299).

Gregory Pappas had the top individual finish of the day for The Pride, with a round of 74. He finished the tournament in 11th at 228 (77-77-74). Chris Cox followed in 12th at 229 (77-76-76), while John Grimes placed in a tie for 13th at 230 (81-75-74).

Scott Novicki also picked up a top-15 finish in 15th at 232 (81-76-75). Nick Peoples rounded out the crew with an 18th place score of 234 (78-79-77).

Methodist took home the team title with a weekend finish of 897 (312-300-285). Averett’s Brandon Grogan won the individual championship at 217 (78-71-68). The tournament was played at the par-72, 6,547 Benvenue Golf and Country Club in Rocky Mount, NC.

The Pride will now await to hear its NCAA Tournament fate.
