College Men’s Track and Field Results – David Cason Breaks ODAC, School 3,000 Meter Steeplechase Record at Duke Twilight

DURHAM, N.C.—Guilford College’s David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) broke his own Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase as the Quakers participated in the Duke University Twilight Sunday. The Quakers ran against competitors from schools of all NCAA Divisions as well as local club teams.

Cason (9:15.34) broke his own ODAC and school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase by 3.34 seconds, finishing eighth. The only Division III competitor in the race, Cason’s time stands 22nd nationally. The junior also holds the best time in the ODAC, 8.23 seconds ahead of the second best time ran by teammate Chad Norton.

Norton (14:56.89) finished sixth in the 5,000 meter run, .96 seconds outside the top five. Norton’s time stands third in school history. Andris Goncarovs (15:15.69) took tenth place in the race and finished .1 second behind ninth place. The sophomore’s time is the ninth best in school history.

Josh Farrar (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) (51.26 seconds) finished 14th in the 400 meter dash. The senior sprinter finished with his fourth best 400 meter dash mark of the season.

Guilford returns to the track for one last regular season meet Monday, May 13th in Chester, Pa. at the Swat Final Qualifying Meet, hosted by Swarthmore College and taking place on the campus of Widener University.
