Game Report on Eastern Guilford-Western Harnett Baseball from Friday night

First round of the State Tournament and the 4th seeded Wildcats travel to the 2 seeded Western Harnett Eagles. Caleb Robinson would take the ball for the Wildcats and would get the win 6-4. The starting pitcher for the Eagles was Zack Taylor taking the loss.

In the 1st inning the Wildcats would get on the board with Andrew Robinson reaching on an error and moving up on a passed ball. Luke Robinson would get a 2 out RBI single. The Eagles would go down in order. 1-0 after 1 inning

The 2nd inning would be nothing for either team. Still 1-0 after 2 innings

In the 3rd inning the Wildcats would strike for 2 more when Ryan Hackett would draw a walk. Andrew Robinson would double. Caleb Robinson would get a ground out to shortstop for an RBI. Luke Robinson would get another RBI single to bring in his brother Andrew. The Eagles would get nothing and it would be 3-0 after 3 innings

Eastern Guilford would go in order in the 4th. Western Harnett would push 1 run across with 3 consecutive hits. 3-1 after 4 innings

Eastern would answer for 1 run in the 5th with a single from Andrew Robinson then he would move to 3rd with a hard shot to left center. A. Robinson would score on a fielding error. The Eagles would plate 2 on a single, HBP, and a double. A wild pitch would score the 2nd run. After 5 innings score is 4-3.

No runs in the 6th for either team.

In the top of the 7th the Wildcats would get a 1 out walk from Hackett. Andrew Robinson would fly out to deep right for the 2nd out. Caleb Robinson would deliver the big blow with a 2 run homerun putting the Wildcats up 3 going into the bottom of 7th. In the bottom of the 7th the Eagles would have the top of their order up and Andrew Robinson would come in to try and get the save. Robinson would get the leadoff to pop out to the first baseman. Then Robinson would struggle a little. The next batter would get a walk then the 3 batter would get a shallow single to center. Robinson would get the 4 batter to ground into the fielders choice driving in a run. With 2 outs in the inning DJ Loclear would hit a hard groundball on the 3rd baseline and Marque Johnson would make the diving catch and throw to first where Jordan Rohrer would make the pick to send the Wildcats to the 2nd round of the State playoffs. Final score 6-4
