New Garden Friends School Bears WILL have girls basketball next year and they expect the boy’s Bears to be good too

Has been some talk and speculation about the girl’s basketball program at the New Garden Friends School and in talking to Dave Secor from NGFS today, the girls and boys are both ready to strive toward new heights with hoops, in 2013/2014…

Both programs are in very good shape and they will be ready to roll for next season out on Pleasant Ridge Road….

Dave told me all systems are go, and it is going to be fun to be back on the court for another roundball experience, come November….

This is what Coach Secor was telling me today in our phone conversation and he coaches the Bear boys, but he can speak on behalf of the young Lady Bears too…..

“With the return of Keniece Purvis, one of the state’s best point guards (22.9 points, 3.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds and support from up and coming Quwahia Wong-Lee and Elaina Garner the girls promise to be as good or better that the team that won 30+ games this season….

As for the boys, with Kanayo Obi-Rapu (24.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game) and Ikenna Smart with 10.4 points and 8.6 rebounds in limited action, Kingsley Nzekwe (7.4 points, 7.2 rebounds) and Josh Wilkerson who will have an increased role next season , we also look for the boys to pick up where they left off this season….

The girls and boys will be working hard on skills and conditioning during the off-season and are enthusiastically looking forward to next season….”
