Southeast Guilford Junior Legion tops Kernersville 5-4 with Michaels, Williams and SEG on top of their game

Tommy Michaels pitched a solid four innings and left with the score tied 1 – 1.The one run allowed was unearned. Michaels turned the reins over to Darin Williams who pitched well and aided his cause with a RBI single. With help from his pals ,Christian Rodriquez who had 2 RBI and Thorne Alley with 1 along with Jacob Wrenn’s RBI ,Darin Williams got the win. Avery Alley was credited with the save and displayed poise in relief along with a 12 to 6 “falling off the table” curve.

The Southeast pitchers did not allow Kernersville a earned run and could look at the scoreboard and see that the defense had posted 6 errors. The Falcon offense posted 5 runs on only 4 hits and were aided by 2 errors from Kernersville. “We are having growing pains with these young kids. They are enthused but a little nervous and that can contribute to errors. We need to adjust better at the plate. Kernersville threw low velocity pitchers that hit their spots and we only scratched out 4 hits. Pitching is not the problem– we are having trouble with hitting, catching and throwing.” offered Charlie Pannell

“It was not pretty but it was a win.”said Shannon Smith. The Falcons travel to historic Holt-Moffitt Field in Lexington tonight at 6:30pm.
